The
Shed Kitchen The Arts & Fun Magazine
Welcome to the Shed Kitchen An arts and entertainment magazine about the artists and performers of West Philadelphia and its surrounding area.
It is difficult to describe the movers and shakers
of West Philadelphia. Today and yesterday's music and entertainment icons that made us laugh, dance, sing, or just plain helped
us to take a walk down memory lane. One thing I can say, I am glad many of them lived in West Philadelphia. West Philadelphia
has been home to ?uestlove, Paul Robeson, McCoy Tyner, Harrison Riddley, Jack Jones, David Brenner, Christian McBride, John
Legend, John Roberts, Will Smith, ....The list of arts and entertainment superduppers go on and on. The theatres of 52nd Street, 40th Street, the merchants of Lancaster Avenue,
the restaurants, the schools, are all the facades that changed the 'hood and made West Philadelphia a historical hub
west of the River. We're sometimes called, "The Ol' heads" by the whippersnappers. But, we do and we are helping
to shape the fads and trends that the youths bring us as we try to juggle the new concepts of "the same ol' thing".
Yet, we are forced to participate in the challenge of change. Change, it isn't easy. As we learn, we
become teachers. We step out and show the new generation the accomplishments of the past, the ones that worked ! There is
no sense in reinventing the wheel.
We are excited that you are visiting the web site of The Shed Kitchen. We are here to provide the unique adventures
